The Issue

Milton Park has been a cornerstone of our community in Fleetwood for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I spent countless hours playing football on the MUGA, making lifelong friends, and cherishing the Memories that this park offers and I still do to this day. I am sure many of you share similar cherished memories of a kickabout with ur mates or taking ur siblings on the climbing frames.

But today, we face the heartbreaking reality that Milton Park is at risk of being razed to make way for new developments. The very thought of losing a place so integral to our community’s identity fills me with fury and deep disappointment. We cannot stand by as bulldozers threaten to erase a place that has served as a natural haven for relaxation, recreation, and social gathering.

Milton Park is more than just open space, it offers residents a place for physical activity, and provides an escape from the urban hustle. The park and the MUGA and it’s a space where so many people have grown up there.

Parks significantly contribute to the mental and physical health of residents by providing a space for exercise, relaxation, and a sense of community. Removing Milton Park could have lasting, negative impacts on our community’s well-being.

We understand development is necessary, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of our beloved Childhood park. Alternatives such as renovating existing structures or utilizing vacant lots should be explored. Working together with local authorities, we can find a solution that balances growth with preservation.

Please join me in urging the Lancashire County Council to reconsider their decision and explore other avenues for development. By signing this petition, you are standing with our community, protecting the place we made so many memories at, and advocating for a Fleetwood that values its heritage.

We must act now to preserve Milton Park for future generations to create their own cherished memories. Sign this petition to show your support!
