Stop the Defunding of the National Weather Service and NOAA _ Protect Our Lives and planet

The Issue

We demand that Congress immediately stop any budget cuts or defunding efforts targeting the National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). These agencies are vital to public safety, national security, and our ability to respond to climate change. Cutting their funding puts lives at risk.

The National Weather Service and NOAA are our first line of defense against hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and other extreme weather events. They provide life-saving forecasts and warnings to protect our families, our homes, and our communities.

Now, they are under threat.

Proposed federal budget cuts could severely weaken these agencies—at a time when climate-related disasters are becoming more frequent and more deadly.

NOAA and the NWS are not just weather services. They support:

Emergency alerts that save lives during disasters.

Scientific research that helps us adapt to climate change.

Economic stability by informing sectors like farming, aviation, shipping, and energy.

National security through environmental intelligence used by our military.

Defunding these agencies means fewer warnings, less preparedness, and more lives lost. It’s a reckless move that undermines science, safety, and our future.

We call on Congress and decision-makers to:

Fully fund NOAA and the National Weather Service.
Reject all proposed cuts to these essential agencies.
Invest in science, technology, and public safety—not strip them away.
We cannot afford to lose the tools that keep us safe. Sign this petition to protect the NWS and NOAA.
