The Issue

On June 11th 2025, Marietta city council voted unanimously for the construction of a data center on Bells Ferry Road and was met with heavy criticism and largely ignored by city council . The section of the road in question is in a highly residential area and using imminent domain to take the land for its construction. On June 10th 2026 when the issue was brought before the council again, it was again ignored and seen as a closed case. Concerns among the residents is the rising utility costs that come with it and have been shown to be the case with other data centers across the country. Other concerns include the environmental effects they have been shown to cause such as the case with the Meta data center that was recently built in Morgan County Georgia. In that case brown water had polluted the water supply for the entire county rendering it undrinkable.

We are looking to collect signatures from concerned people want to see this data center to be shutdown. City council claims this will create jobs but in truth it only creates 20 to 50 jobs as it is mostly automated. A stand must be made now to stop these data centers from being built in towns like Marietta where it is not wanted and would create more issues than good. We need your help to do this as this is something that affects us all and could very well decide the future for us and future generations
