Stop the data center!

Stop the data center!
The Issue
Living in Sand Springs is a blessing. Many families have lived in this town for generations. It offers both suburban life and rural living to suit a wide variety of residents. The residents of Rock Community enjoy the natural beauty and rural charm that it offers. We chose this location for the tranquility, and close-knit ties that come with it. A place where you know your neighbors, and everyone is willing to lend a helping hand. You don't find that just anywhere. This rural gem is now under threat as plans unfold to construct a data center.
The proposal for a data center brings extreme concern. It would change the character of our rural community. A data center will lead to increased traffic, unwelcome light in the night skies of the prarie, and noise, which contradicts the peaceful environment we chose to live in, and treasure. Data centers are known to consume large amounts of water and energy, that will strain our local resources and potentially drive up costs for residents. It will also put a strain on our infrastructure which is not able to handle the expansion. This could also lead to increased taxes for current residents and change fabric of our community. Our rural landscape with open spaces and farmland, faces the risk of becoming industrialized, changing the lifestyle that so many families, like mine, have chosen to preserve.
This development is aligned with corporate interests rather than the interests of the people who call it home. Our community deserves growth plans that maintain the area’s identity, and consider the impacts on its residents and the environment.
We need the support of our community to voice our concerns and demand that these development plans be stopped. By signing this petition, you're standing with us to protect the rural lifestyle of this community. Help us keep our community one of rural living. Please sign and share this petition to express our collective stand against this proposed expansion.
