Stop the Data Center!

Stop the Data Center!
The Issue
Stop the Build of the data center proposed for 600 acres just behind (west of) the truck stop/Gas Grill on 109. The proposal includes three 20-acre data centers on 200 acres with the remaining 400 meant to be a “buffer” zone, but that could change. The developer is under the impression that the community supports this, despite nearly none of us being asked.
The data center not only uses up valuable farm land and disrupts the rural community but also uses up increasingly valuable water needed for human and farm use. They also expel harmful pollutants in the air, significantly impacting the air quality.
What is a data center?
Data centers are massive warehouse-like structures housing IT infrastructure that supports cloud and AI functionality. They take up massive amounts of land and water and pollute the air with emissions.
Why do we need to stop it?
- No community input: it is unclear who was brought into conversations to speak on behalf of all of us given we were never included in the conversation.
- Bad for our Health: reduced access to potable water and poor air quality can have significant adverse impacts on our health.
- Bad for our Environment: reduced water for our farms and forests and increased emissions only make our environment more challenging to cultivate.
Bottom Line:
We need to stand against the data center being built in our community. We deserve a say in large-scale changes to our community, especially when there are numerous negative impacts on those of us to live here. The corporate executives who will make the most money on this center do not live in our community, so that money won’t stay in our community either. Say NO to the data center.
The neighbors of this campaign do not condone violence, threats, or intimidation of any kind.
