WHEREAS Kitsap County proposes to create an Emergency Temporary Homeless Shelter on Mile Hill, seeks to discourage public input by use of the Administrative Conditional Use Permit (ACUP) process, fails to answer Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and fails to hold sufficient or in-person public meetings;

WE, the undersigned, REQUEST that Kitsap County now hold 3 or more public hearings to hear and address our concerns about the safety impacts this proposal will have on our communities. WE REQUEST public meetings be well publicized, with at least one month advance notice, and  include at least two in-person meetings. WE REQUEST these public meetings be conducted by an Independent Hearing Examiner with the clear authority to define, and require mitigation, responsibilities of the County with regards to our concerns and halt the project if our concerns are not met.
