The Issue

Growing up near Tapovan has been a blessing for me and many others in Nashik. This sacred space has provided us with tranquility, peace of mind, and the joy of being surrounded by nature. The sound of birds chirping, the serenity of the lush greenery, and the fresh air have become an integral part of our lives. Sadly, this cherished ecosystem, home to 3500 majestic trees and countless wildlife species, faces destruction and the loss of over 1,700 trees due to the expansion plans for a new Sadhugram.

Tapovan is not only a personal sanctuary for those of us who live in Nashik; it is also a vital lung of the city, ensuring cleaner air and a healthier environment for all its residents. Trees play a crucial role in maintaining air quality, reducing urban heat, and providing a habitat for wildlife. Their loss would mean irreversible damage to our community's health and well-being.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, a single mature tree can absorb 48 pounds of carbon dioxide a year. Imagine the impact of losing 1,700 trees! This is not just a local issue; it's a wake-up call for environmental preservation that affects us all.

We understand the need for development, but it should not come at the cost of our natural resources. Instead of cutting down these trees, let's consider alternative locations or construction methods that ensure minimal environmental impact. We urge the local authorities and planners of Sadhugram to reassess their project plans and seek eco-friendly and sustainable solutions.

This is a call for action to every resident of Nashik and beyond—help us preserve this crucial green space. By signing this petition, you are lending your voice to save Tapovan and demanding a sustainable future for our city. Together, we can make a difference and protect Nashik's natural heritage for generations to come.

Please sign this petition to stop the deforestation of Tapovan in Nashik, Maharashtra, and advocate for smarter, sustainable development practices.
