Stop the culling of crows in Singapore

Stop the culling of crows in Singapore
The Issue
The government of Singapore plans to resume shooting crows, but this approach is harmful, unnecessary, and unkind. Crows are intelligent creatures adapting to urban environments because of human activity, not because they are pests.
Crows do not attack without reason. When humans shout, wave their arms, or try to shoo them away, crows may feel threatened and react defensively. Yet when humans destroy habitats and take over natural spaces, animals rarely retaliate. Instead we choose to cull them. It feels like we are bullying creatures that have no voice.
Urbanisation, increased waste, and shrinking green spaces push crows closer to people. Their presence is a result of human impact, not their fault. Media coverage often lacks a compassionate perspective, and once decisions to cull are made, the birds are not represented. Labeling crows as invasive is misleading. Humans are the most invasive species and punishing wildlife for adapting to our environments is unfair.
Humane alternatives exist. We can manage habitats, control waste, and use non-lethal methods to reduce conflicts without resorting to shooting.
We urge the authorities to stop shooting crows and adopt coexistence-focused solutions that reflect Singapore’s commitment to protecting wildlife. Protecting crows is a reflection of our compassion and respect for nature.
