We moved to Czech Republic 2 years ago as my company closed offices in Australia due to Covid. Instead of becoming a burden on an already struggling economy, we decided to move with the job. 

We took our 10 year old Australian born dog with us. I started the import process in October 2022, but am still waiting for an import permit and today is March 8, 2023. I had to come back to Australia due to severe health problems. 

My husband is stuck in the Czech Republic taking care of our dog, and there’s no help from anywhere. The cost of bringing him back is almost $10,000 AUD. And if we have to board him it’s another $1100 AUD per month. How is this fair for us as a family and for our dog who has never lived away from us? The Australian government is not helping at all with their draconian policies and also display zero accountability or empathy for their own citizens who were impacted by a global pandemic. 

We need as much help as possible to bring our dog home, whether it be a small donation or sharing this story. The time and monetary cost is frankly outrageous and unfair for anyone. If I had known it would come to this I would have never moved to the Czech Republic in the first place, and it feels like a lose-lose situation. As I previously stated, we would greatly appreciate any effort to raise awareness for our story.
