We have an environmental lawyer, we have broad support, we now need financial help.

GoFundMe account

The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) announced on February 11 plans to eliminate 48 of roughly 250 trees along the road before April 1 (when migratory bats start using these trees!). Many are native White Oaks and Hickories that are over 100 years old, providing essential wildlife habitat and contributing to the unique character of Southeast Michigan.  The WCRC has refused to conduct an environmental analysis to understand impact or benefit. A lawsuit has been filed under the Michigan Environmental Protection Act (MEPA) to protect these irreplaceable trees and hearing is scheduled for mid-March.

An Ann Arbor environmental lawyer is significantly reducing fees to represent us. Funds raised will help with legal costs. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Michigan Nature Conservancy to continue the fight for environmental protection.  Thank you for caring. Let’s preserve our natural world for generations to come.  Your support of any amount means the world to your neighbors and to the environment. Thank you!
