Stop the Costly Toledo Trash Switch: Keep Current Service & Protect Taxpayers and Jobs

The Issue

Toledo City Council Members,

We, the residents, families, business owners, and truck drivers of Toledo, respectfully urge you to reject the proposed contract with a new higher-cost garbage pickup service provider and keep our current curbside garbage and recycling service at a lower cost.

Here are the clear facts:

The current provider is bidding $977,600 per month.

The new provider wants $1,123,300 per month.

This would mean an additional $145,700 each month or $1.7 million more in the first year paid by Toledo taxpayers.

Our current service has already improved with weekly bulk curbside pickup, making it easier for residents and businesses to keep neighborhoods clean.

Additionally, the current provider knows Toledo, employs up to 54 local union workers and truck drivers who support our economy, and who are delivering reliable service today.

The new provider has no track record serving our city, and they come at a significantly higher cost.

We believe this expensive change is unnecessary at this time.

Toledo deserves smart, cost-conscious decisions. We urge the City Council to protect taxpayers, keep garbage fees as low as possible, support local union jobs, and maintain our current service provider.

Sign this petition today and tell the Toledo City Council to:

✅ Keep costs down for every household and business
✅ Protect good-paying local union jobs
✅ Stick with proven service provider instead of paying more for an unproven alternative

Let’s keep Toledo affordable, strong, and employed!
