This petition is for anyone in the United States that is an essential worker or anyone that is still required to drive during this virus outbreak. Even if you’re practicing social distancing, you are still highly susceptible to contracting the virus from non-direct contact. This is especially true with gas stations where over 100 people a day can use the same handle to fill their tank. The NACS reports an “average convenience store selling fuel has around 1,100 customers per day, or more than 400,000 per year”. Over 400k infected cases have been reported in the US as of this petition. A solution to reducing the spread of the corona virus is by temporarily utilizing attendants/gas jockeys to fill peoples’ gas for them. Many businesses have switched to drive-through and take out only, shouldn’t gas stations adapt to this? Not only do I believe this will help reduce the spread of the virus, but it will also create jobs for those currently unemployed from this pandemic.
