Stop the Conversion of Nixon Lane Woods to a Multi-Use Pathway

Stop the Conversion of Nixon Lane Woods to a Multi-Use Pathway

The Issue

We, the local community, stand against the proposed conversion of Nixon Lane Woods into a multi-use path. Our lives revolve around this woodland path - a safe haven where our children play and we walk our dogs daily. This unchanged natural space is now at risk of turning into a multi-use path designed for non-motorised vehicles and horses. The proposed changes will drastically reduce our privacy, as our houses back onto this path, and this narrow path will experience additional traffic and noise pollution.

Furthermore, we're concerned about the grave safety issues the higher footfall of horses and mountain bikes would pose to our children's safety. These are shared spaces where our youngest play, explore, and learn. With more traffic, their safety's bound to be compromised.

The harm doesn't stop at us, the inhabitants of the houses adjacent to Nixon Lane Woods. The diverse set of wildlife that calls these woods home will have their habitats severely affected. With deforestation and habitat reduction, we're compromising their chance of survival.

Adding to our concerns is the lack of communication regarding these potential changes. We, who are directly affected by this, have been kept in the dark, without a chance to voice our worries and suggestions. This disrespect for our rights is highly concerning. Not to mention the damage that has already be done to the woods, at least 124 felled trees in recent weeks, without effective consultation or appropriate planning.

Don’t let our children, our community, the wildlife go unheard. Sign the petition now. Let us stand together against the conversion of Nixon Lane Woods and defend the rights of its users and inhabitants.
