The Issue

Enerfin, a foreign based global energy company, is actively recruiting landowners in rural Coles County to lease farm ground in order to construct a multi-turbine industrialized wind farm in our community that would run from Hutton township, through Ashmore township, east of Ashmore, up to southeast of Oakland in Oakland township. Besides the turbines themselves, construction would also entail the widening of all roads, underground lines connecting all turbines, the building of access roads, and most likely, a substation and high voltage power lines. Please note, these turbines, at full blade height are taller than the St. Louis Arch. This will be the company's first attempt at constructing a wind turbine power plant in the United States. Enerfin Global Energy does not care about our community, nor any of its residents. Their goal is to profit from the substantial subsidies our government offers to industrial wind power plant developers, (which are only possible because of our tax dollars!) This is a foreign company attempting to profit off of us and using our land to do it. If you value the preservation of our rural community's natural beauty, peace, and tranquility for future generations, and if you believe that every resident should have a say in whether an industrialized wind turbine power plant is built in our rural neighborhood, we urge you to raise your voice! Join us in signing this petition and encourage your friends, neighbors, and others who share our concerns to do the same. Together, let's stand united in support of each other and our community, sending a clear message to Enerfin Global Energy that our community is not for sale!
