I am a family medicine physician practicing in the Quad Cities.  I wanted to alert you all about a potential new natural gas power plant being planned near the community of Eldridge, IA.  It looks like ~8 miles away, directly west from the town of Eldridge the Central Iowa Power Cooperative is planning on constructing a natural gas power plant in Maysville, IA. As a physician, I am highly concerned about the wind patterns and exhaust/pollution from a natural gas power plant blowing into the surrounding community polluting our air.  It is well-established that emissions from these type of plants are linked to asthma, COPD, and other respiratory diseases in children, adults, and the elderly. If anyone would like to advocate to stop this process I recommend signing my petition and attending the next city meetings regarding this subject. It looks like the project was delayed due to a potential conflict of interest and concern about compromising prime farm land.
