Stop the construction of the data center on Gibson Wells Rd, Humboldt, TN
The Issue
The construction of a new data center on Gibson Wells Road in Humboldt, Tennessee, has raised significant concerns among local residents, including myself. We are distressed by the lack of transparency from both city and county officials regarding this project. It appears that this development has been shrouded in secrecy, leaving the community in the dark about its true impacts and benefits—or more importantly, the potential risks.
Most citizens of Humboldt are opposed to this data center, and for good reason. Studies have shown that such facilities can adversely affect livestock and other animals due to the frequencies they emit. For a community like ours, where agriculture plays a vital role in our economy and daily life, the implications for our livestock are alarming. These emissions could disrupt animal health and behavior, threatening both our livelihoods and the well-being of innocent animals.
Furthermore, the lack of open communication fosters distrust towards those in charge of approving this development. When decisions of such magnitude are made without proper consultation or transparency, it erodes the community's faith in local governance.
The jobs they suggest this project will bring are limited. They may last a year but only until it has been completed. Data centers are known to function with little to no employees.
We urge the city and county officials to halt the progress of this data center until all environmental and community concerns have been thoroughly investigated and addressed. We need full disclosure of the project's planning process and potential impacts. There should be public forums where citizens can voice their opinions and concerns. Our voices matter, and they should be heard and respected.
Please stand with the citizens of Humboldt in demanding accountability and transparency. Sign this petition to ensure our community's welfare and future are prioritized.
