The Issue

Dear community members,

We are facing a situation that could significantly impact our neighborhood's character, property values, and overall community spirit. A proposal has been put forward to construct a duplex development right next to our established single-family homes. We believe this development could disrupt the harmony and tranquility that defines our beloved area.

Building duplexes in a neighborhood traditionally composed of single-family homes poses several challenges. It can lead to increased traffic, limited parking, and strain on local resources such as schools, parks, and public utilities. Moreover, such developments often lead to a decline in property values for existing homeowners, impacting many residents' financial security.

The character of our neighborhood is at stake. Single-family neighborhoods foster a unique sense of community, where residents often form longstanding relationships, and where children can grow up in a stable and friendly environment. A sudden change with the introduction of multi-family units can alter our neighborhood's dynamic, creating a mismatch that is unsuitable for our community’s needs and expectations.

We are not opposed to development or growth in our town. However, it is crucial that any new projects align with the existing neighborhood structure and community values. We believe that planning alternatives should be explored, ones that enhance rather than detract from the neighborhood's existing characteristics. Our community is away from city center. It is rural. Development like this in our backyards would drastically change that.

By signing this petition, you are voicing your support to encourage local officials, planners, and developers to rethink this proposal and seek a more suitable option. Let's protect our homes, our community, and our future. Please stand with us by signing this petition to stop the proposed duplex development in our neighborhood.
