The Issue

I have always loved the natural beauty and diverse ecosystem of Alabama. From the rivers to the mountains, our state is a home of biodiversity, and it deeply upsets me to think of its destruction.

The potential construction of an AI data center in Southern Alabama is alarming. We've already seen the devastating impact of these developments in places like Morgan County, Georgia, where AI data centers have ruined the quality of drinking water, making it undrinkable. This shows a severe risk not just to human health but to wildlife and the environment as a whole.

Data centers use large amounts of water and energy, leading to increased carbon emissions and potential water shortages.  I refuse to stand by as Alabamais put at risk for the sake of money and AI.

Instead, we can advocate for more responsible technological progression, like investing in renewable energy powered data centers and water conservation systems that do not compromise our natural resources.

Please join me in urging local decision-makers and state representatives to reconsider and stop the plans for this AI data center. Sign this petition to protect the natural, invaluable resources of Southern Alabama and ensure a safe future for our children and the generations to come.
