As members of the flourishing community of East Wall Dublin 3, we find ourselves in the midst of an urban plight where the expansion of utility and industrial buildings overshadows the need for green and recreational spaces. Our humble area has been growing drastically and, instead of adding to the concrete jungle, we want to focus on creating green spaces that can foster our community's well-being and sustainability.

Eirgrid's proposed construction of a substation on the East Wall Rd is an affront to these needs. Not only is this an imposition of an industrial structure in an already overburdened area, but substations have associated health risks, with studies suggesting that prolonged exposure to electromagnetic fields can have ill effects on health. These risks are unacceptable to a growing population especially when considering the environmental and social benefits of green spaces.

Our plea is not just about halting one substation project, it's a request to reconsider the urban planning strategy in East Wall Dublin 3. It's an opportunity to replace industrial development with sustainable and beneficial green spaces for the well-being of present and future residents.
