The Issue

I live in a community that values its tranquility, clean air, and reliable access to resources. The prospect of a new data center being constructed near our homes threatens this balance and poses numerous concerns that cannot be overlooked.

Firstly, the introduction of a data center into our neighborhood could lead to significantly higher energy bills. Data centers are notorious for their massive energy consumption, and this burden would likely be shared with local residents. Why should we have to pay more so that companies can profit off infrastructure that doesn't serve our community's needs?

Moreover, data centers require vast amounts of freshwater to cool their operations. In areas where water should be responsibly managed, this strain on resources is untenable. Our water supply should be conserved and used for essential services, not data processing facilities that serve clients outside our locality.

The noise and air pollution that data centers produce are also alarming. The constant hum of servers and cooling systems, combined with the increased traffic from service vehicles, would disrupt the peace of our neighborhood. There is also the risk of air pollutants from diesel generators often used in these facilities during power outages.

Electronic waste is an ever-growing problem. Data centers are hotspots for e-waste, and their presence in our neighborhood would likely increase the risk of improper disposal and pollution.

Our neighborhood deserves to maintain its quality of life without these added burdens. We need to prioritize sustainable living and the well-being of our local community.

I urge local authorities and decision-makers to listen to the community’s voice and reconsider this development. Let's work together to find alternatives that won’t compromise our health, our resources, or our environment.

Please sign this petition to stop the construction of the data center in our neighborhood and protect the interests and well-being of current and future generations.
