As residents of Tiger Point/Sterling Point/ Victorian Village/Neighborhood, we are deeply concerned about the proposed construction and conditional use application 2026-8-CU, for a cell tower in the retention pond that borders our homes. This location, not only being close to our living spaces, poses several plausible risks that should not be overlooked by decision-makers.

First and foremost, the area in question is a retention pond. These ponds are critical for managing stormwater and preventing flooding in our community. By erecting a cell tower in this location, we are at increased risk of flooding, as the construction could obstruct water flow and reduce the pond's capacity to handle heavy rains and storms. With climate change leading to unpredictable weather patterns, this threat is more significant now than ever.

Furthermore, the aesthetic and practical implications of a cell tower so close to our homes cannot be ignored. Numerous studies have shown that the presence of a cell tower can decrease property values by up to 20%. For many of us, our homes are our most significant investment, and any reduction in property value would have a substantial impact on our financial well-being and future security.

Importantly, we believe there are better alternatives available. Within 1000 feet of the proposed site, there are several non-residential locations, such as vacant lots, industrial areas, etc.  These sites would provide optimal service coverage without the drawbacks associated with building in a residential area.

While the need for improved telecommunications infrastructure is understandable, it should not come at the expense of community safety and economic stability. We request that decision-makers reconsider the proposed site and instead opt for one of the alternative locations.
