The Issue

BP gas stations are notoriously bright, eye-soring establishments. Their overwhelmingly glaring color schemes disrupt the visual harmony of our neighborhoods. Personally, I find the idea of a BP gas station being built at the corner of Lora Smith and Highway 34 deeply unsettling.

As a resident of Newnan, Georgia, I value the aesthetic appeal of my community. The proposed BP station threatens to tarnish this appeal with its obtrusive design and lighting, which are far from fitting the serene environment we currently enjoy. Having a BP station in this location would not only be a disturbance but would potentially diminish property values in the surrounding area due to their perceived unsightliness.

Furthermore, BP's convenience stores often fail to offer anything beyond the basic necessities. Instead of enriching community life, they offer nothing new or exciting. This does not accommodate the more vibrant, diverse commercial environment our community members crave.

Imagine a strip bustling with local businesses, ethnic restaurants, and community-friendly establishments that enhance our neighborhood's character rather than detract from it. This could create jobs, boost local tourism, and establish a stronger sense of community identity and cohesion, reflecting the diverse tastes of Newnan residents.

We must act now to protect our community and prevent the degradation of our local surroundings. By stopping this construction, we preserve our unique local aesthetic and promote economic growth through more inclusive and engaging business models.

Let's work together to propose alternative businesses that genuinely add value to our community and retain the charm of our beloved Newnan.

Please join me in stopping the construction of this BP station by signing this petition today. Together, we can make a difference and protect the beauty and integrity of our neighborhood for current and future generations.
