BIGGEST HELP PLEASE EMAIL: cafo@dnr.mo.gov     reguarding Concerns of Proposed Layer Farm - Section 7, Township 24N, Range 30W, in Newton County Missouri

In our beloved rural community, we are facing the alarming threat of TWO Poulty Egg Laying Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) chicken farm being constructed right next to our homes. This proposed farm poses a direct risk to our natural resources, our health, and our property values. It is located on Highway HH in Stark City, MO just outside of Neosho.

**Water and Air Contamination**

One of the most significant concerns is the potential contamination of our water sources. CAFOs have a history of adversely impacting the environment through pollution. The potential for elevated nitrate levels from animal waste is substantial, leading to serious health issues such as kidney failure and cancer. Our wells, springs, and aquifers, which are our lifeline, are at risk of depletion and irreversible contamination.

Moreover, the air quality will be gravely affected by ammonia emissions. Ammonia, commonly associated with CAFOs, can lead to respiratory irritation and illnesses, particularly for children and the elderly. Many children in our community already struggle to focus on their schoolwork, and the added burden of a polluted environment will exacerbate this issue.

**Impact on Property Value and Quality of Life**

The introduction of a CAFO will undeniably depreciate property values in our area. The noxious odors, increased noise, and negative environmental impact will drive potential buyers away, leaving families with homes they are either forced to abandon or unable to sell.

Furthermore, our quality of life will be severely compromised. The steady hum of machinery, the ongoing disturbances from lights, and the ever-present odor from the farm will profoundly disrupt our peaceful rural lifestyle.

**A Call for Action**

We must act now to preserve our natural resources, our health, and our community's future. We urge local authorities, environmental protection agencies, and every concerned citizen to stand with us against the establishment of this CAFO.

By signing this petition, you are lending your voice to defend our environment, our health, and our community. Together, we can halt this project and protect our beloved rural way of life for future generations. Please join us in this crucial battle for our home and health.
