The Issue

I am signing this petition to express my firm opposition to the proposed development by Claratel Behavioral Health at 3053 Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur, Georgia 30034. As a resident of this neighborhood, I have witnessed firsthand the stress that our current infrastructure endures daily. The prospect of a new large-scale development only exacerbates our current challenges, posing increased risks and inconveniences to our community.

Our neighborhood's roadways are already under significant strain, with traffic congestion being a daily reality for many residents. Introducing a development of this magnitude will inevitably lead to even more traffic, further clogging our streets and extending commute times for everyone. Not only will this impact drivers, but it also poses significant safety hazards for pedestrians, especially children who attend the nearby schools.

The local schools are of paramount importance to our community. With the proposed development, there would be an increase in vehicles traversing the area, escalating the risk of accidents and putting our children and other pedestrians in harm's way. Ensuring the safety of our children is a shared responsibility, and this project threatens the security we strive to maintain.

Moreover, the influx of additional residents and visitors could overwhelm our emergency services, which are already stretched thin. Inadequate traffic flow during emergencies could have dire consequences, potentially delaying response times and putting lives at risk.

There is a need to prioritize the well-being of the current residents of our neighborhood over the development of new projects that do not serve the immediate interests of the community. We ask decision-makers to reconsider approving this project and look into alternatives that will both respect our community's needs and preserve the quality of life we've worked hard to establish.

As someone deeply invested in the future of our neighborhood, I urge everyone who shares these concerns to sign this petition and raise their voice against an ill-conceived development that threatens the very essence of our home. Your support is vital in preserving the safety, security, and serenity of our beloved community. Please sign the petition to make your voice heard.
