Stop the Coastside Cohousing project in Carbonera
Stop the Coastside Cohousing project in Carbonera
The Issue
To Manu Koenig, First District Supervisor for Santa Cruz County and Gabriela Trigueiro, Councilmember for District 1, Santa Cruz City Council.
We, the undersigned residents and neighbors of the Carbonera Estates neighborhood, respectfully request that the proposed co-housing development called Coastside Cohousing on the approximately four-acre open-space parcel be reconsidered in light of its proposed density and incompatibility with the surrounding neighborhood. The Parcel # for this development is APN: 068-241-30.
The surrounding neighborhood is characterized by single-family homes. The proposed development would introduce a significantly different scale and density, with at least 60 residents proposed for approximately four acres of land.
We are concerned about the project’s negative impact on neighborhood character, traffic and parking, pedestrian safety, noise, privacy, infrastructure, emergency access, open space, riparian corridor degradation and the overall capacity of the site to accommodate the proposed number of residents.
