Stop the closure - Save Chorlton's last bank!

Stop the closure - Save Chorlton's last bank!
The Issue
Chorlton and Chorlton Park Councillors & Jeff Smith MP call on NatWest to reverse their closure decision.
It has recently been announced that the Chorlton NatWest branch will be closing in May 2026. We are very disappointed with this decision as we know how valued banking services are and this will have a significant impact for residents across Chorlton.
Chorlton has a busy district centre. The closure of this branch will mean there are no banks in the district centre, and this will limit the banking options for residents, small business owners, and families who all rely on the convenience and accessibility of local banking services.
We know this will particularly affect older residents and more vulnerable individuals who rely on local branches for their financial needs, and those who struggle to use online banking services. If this branch closes, residents will have to travel much further to other banks across Manchester and this will also put further pressure on our local Post Office.
This is why this closure should be stopped, and we ask NatWest to reconsider their decision, taking into account the considerable impact this closure will have. We encourage NatWest to engage with the community and explore alternative solutions that would allow the branch to remain operational, such as reducing operating hours or adapting services to current needs.
We believe that maintaining the Chorlton branch will continue to demonstrate NatWest’s commitment to its customers and the wider community. We urge all local residents, business owners, and supporters to sign this petition to show NatWest just how important this branch is and to keep it open in the longer term. Please sign this petition to help us keep the Chorlton NatWest branch open.
