We know the petition is working because people have been responding and with gusto! So lets clarify the main talking point that has been made against this petition's existence:
"It's just temporary, the re-aligned Ridgefield Road will eventually be finished and allow access from River Road to the shopping center"
Correct! However, the soonest finish date is October of this year, but as anyone with experience with large construction projects can tell you, it is very rare that things are done on time. That means at least one year of closure that has had a ripple effect on the whole community, and small businesses most of all.
A small groups inconvenience should not outweigh the needs of the greater neighborhood and community. Please keep paying attention and spread the word: open River access to Westbard.
