Stop the closure of the Inner West GP respiratory clinic

Stop the closure of the Inner West GP respiratory clinic
The issue
The Inner West GP respiratory clinic has been open since 2020 and has provided respiratory appointments to the Inner West Community for those seeking support with Covid and other respiratory illnesses. This clinic is due to shut down by the end of the month. There are still GPs in the area not offering face-to-face appointments for patients with Covid or those without the confirmation of a negative PCR test. The Inner West GP respiratory clinic bridged this gap for the community and provided excellent respiratory care.
In NSW, in 2019, people waited just over two-and-a-half days for an appointment. But by May 2022, that figure had jumped to more than four days. With the closure of the respiratory clinic, there will be more pressure on GPs and emergency departments to meet the healthcare needs of unwell patients. Especially those with respiratory illnesses. We consult up to 200 patients a week and the closing of this clinic would be a devastating loss to the community.
Please advocate to keep this clinic and help meet the community's needs.
