Stop the Closure of Robert Joyner Circle, Salley, SC
The Issue
We are deeply concerned about the impending closure of Robert Joyner Circle in Salley, SC 29137. This road has been a vital part of our community for over 35 years, connecting neighbors and offering a scenic country dirt road that many of us enjoy. Its closure would sever a significant link within our community, causing inconvenience and disrupting the lives of many residents.
Robert Joyner Circle is not just any road; it has become an essential route due to the bridge closure on Altees Corbett Road. Many locals rely on it as an alternative route, making its continued access crucial for daily commutes, getting children to school and connectivity between homes and properties lining the circle.
With Altees Corbett Road not being able to be used because of a failing bridge being closed we aren’t able to get Hollow Creek Fire Department,EMT or Police protection now in a timely matter. Closing the quickest access road and detour to our property and our neighbors is not acceptable.
Robert Joyner Circle is used as a vital part of our local agricultural passage.
The proposal to invoke 57-9-10 to amend and close Robert Joyner Circle has sparked great concern among the residents. Beyond its utility, the road serves as a cherished part of our community's heritage and lifestyle, something we are not willing to forfeit.
We appeal to the decision-makers to reconsider the pending closure and explore alternative solutions that address infrastructure concerns while preserving the road for community use. The heart of Salley lies in its roads and pathways, and closing Robert Joyner Circle would take away a piece of that heart.
Please join us in urging the authorities to keep Robert Joyner Circle open for not only our safety but, for future generations to experience and enjoy. Your support in signing this petition will help us protect our community's access and preserve an integral part of Salley's identity. Let's keep Robert Joyner Circle open for everyone.
