The Issue

Help stop the decision to close the horse barns at Marietta Fairgrounds.  Pioneer City Riding Club as been a part of our fairgrounds for many  years. Sadly they are no longer. For years, the Washington County Fairgrounds in Marietta, Ohio, has been a beloved home for horses and a critical part of providing countless children the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect through equestrian activities. Many, like my own children, have had invaluable experiences bonding with horses, thanks to the availability of rental stalls at the fairgrounds.

Recently, a decision was made to cease renting these stalls to the public, forcing current renters to vacate and shattering the hopes of many families and children who cherish their time with these majestic creatures. Not only have they increased rent countless times, making it financially difficult for existing renters, but now they intend to shut down the barns to the public completely.

The impact of this decision is devastating. Closing these barns would strip away promising opportunities for current and future participants.

We urge the leaders of the Washington County Fairgrounds to reconsider this closure. It is imperative that they not only halt the plans to close the horse barns but also refrain from implementing further rent increases that threaten the accessibility of these facilities.

The community's voice can make a significant difference. By signing this petition, you lend your support to preserving these invaluable resources for future generations and horse enthusiasts. Please sign and share this petition to help keep the horse barns at Washington County Fairgrounds open and accessible to all.
