Stop the closure of Cumberland Rd and isolation of Spike Island by Bristol Council

Stop the closure of Cumberland Rd and isolation of Spike Island by Bristol Council
The Issue
Bristol City Council has announced its intention to proceed with its plan for a 24/7 bus gate on Cumberland Road, permanently closing the eastbound lane to general traffic, which will :
- prevent residents and businesses (and their visitors & service providers) from driving east towards the city & M32, necessitating long diversions along already congested routes - via Coronation Road & Hotwell Rd
- increase car mileage, worsen traffic congestion and pollution
- negatively impact the local economy, and the lives and livelihoods of residents & businesses
The Council has ignored the voices of local stakeholders during the consultation and objections phases of the process. As the outcomes from the inevitable increased car mileage are so contradictory to clean air goals, and the negative impact on residents and businesses so damaging, we have no choice but to challenge the order by any means necessary.
We will be launching a crowdfund campaign to fund the necessary action, and will send an update soon.
