Stop the city of Dalton, OH from Trapping cats

The Issue

Two weeks ago, my beloved cat Oreo disappeared without a trace. The picture below is Oreo. After extensive searching and inquiries, I learned about a horrific practice happening in the area - cats are being trapped by a city council member only to be released on farms. This law was approved by Dalton, OH city council members. I do not know if Oreo was trapped or not.

This is heartbreaking, not only for me, but for numerous other cat owners. It's a nightmare that our pets could be unwittingly trapped and forced into an alien environment, vulnerable to farm hazards and deadly predators.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, outdoor cats face all types of threats including disease, traffic, other animals, and yes, traps set by inconsiderate individuals (Humane Society, 2020). It's a situation that has put thousands of outdoor pets in peril in recent years.

This practice must be stopped. It's inhumane, potentially illegal, and goes against every protective instinct we have for our pets.

We need regulations in place to ban the trapping and transport of unprotected animals. We ask local authorities to address this inhumanity and pass legislation to end the terrible ordeal our pets are being put through.

Together, we can make a difference. Please sign this petition to make our voices heard. Protect our pets from being trapped and released on farms against their will.

We need 1,000 signatures to apply to the Ohio attorney general to amend this law.
