Children and their guardians alike are very disappointed and upset that the Collingwood Children's Farm slaughters the animals they love to see onsite and sells them to other farmers to be slaughtered. Many former visitors to the farm are refusing to return and pay money, and many of those who have paid a membership say they feel cheated. Children were especially distraught at learning that the male calves they love to pat and watch grow up are slaughtered, as well as the lambs. Concerned community members have pointed out that it is also distressing to see young calves separated from their mothers, who cry constantly for each other in separate fields, just so that the visitors can milk the cow. Visitors to the farm and concerned community are saying that they want the farm turned into a real Children's farm - that being a farm SANCTUARY.
