STOP THE CHICAGO AVENUE CORRIDOR PROJECT

The Issue

Neighbors,

The city of Evanston is proposing a Chicago Ave Corridor Project adding a bike lane along Chicago Avenue. The proposal includes REMOVING ALL PARKING SPOTS between Keeney and South Blvd. on Chicago Avenue. This proposal negatively impacts all residents in the area:

  • Residents and guests of the 90 townhomes along Chicago Ave between South Blvd and Keeney who currently park on Chicago Ave will be forced to find alternative parking in an area with very limited parking already
  • Reduced parking options for delivery vehicles, service providers, and ride share drivers will mean more crowding in alleys and dangerous double-parking on side streets (plus fewer parking options for everyone during the winter!)
  • Plans for a new apartment building along South Blvd will further constrain parking in the neighborhood in the near future with the addition of new residents

We hope you will join our effort to save these valuable parking spaces by signing the petition by FRIDAY, JUNE 30th so that we may pass it along to city officials. We also encourage you to send an email to the following Evanston officials to let them know that this project must NOT include removing these important parking spots along Chicago Avenue.

Our alderwoman, Melissa Wynne, at:  mwynne@cityofevanston.org
Our mayor, Daniel Biss, at:  dbiss@cityofevanston.org
Our city manager, Luke Stowe, at:  lstowe@cityofevanston.org

***PLEASE NOTE: After signing, the website may prompt you for a donation. We are NOT asking for money, please skip over this.***
