My wife and I just bought and moved into our first home 9 months ago in the Tullamore neighborhood of Mundelein, IL.   We absolutely love our neighborhood and the community we decided to join. Our neighborhood is quaint and bordered by two bike paths, a forest preserve, a golf course and is surrounded by several other neighborhoods and senior living communities in close proximity.  

On the southwest corner of the neighborhood, we are bordered by The Chapel's Mundelein campus.  Recently, The Chapel has decided (without consenting its neighbors or congregation) to work with Dolan Reality Advisors to build an 80 foot cell tower next to its Mundelein campus building that will be leased to Verizon Wireless.  The company is also proposing the placement of a Flag at the top of the tower.  

Four problems exist with this proposal: 1) The 80' Cell Tower is enormous and an unsightly feature to add to our residential community. 2) The bellowing flag will make a great deal of noise throughout the day and night, disturbing all of the residential homes surrounding it. 3) Research has shown that the construction of cell towers in residential areas decreases nearby home values on average of 15%! 4) There are MANY other commercial zones within Mundelein that have similar or better expected network coverage results than the proposed residential site. 

In order for The Chapel, Dolan Reality Advisors and Verizon to move forward with their plan of constructing this monstrosity, they must first work with the Village of Mundelein's Planning and Zoning Commission to change The Chapel's Mundelein property from a residential classification to a commercial zone.  The next meeting to discuss zoning will take place on November 18 at the Mundelein Village Hall.  

Please help my family, my Tullamore Neighborhood, the surrounding neighborhoods, the surrounding senior living communities and the citizens of Mundelein in stopping the city from allowing the construction of this tower in our residential areas by signing our petition.  We ask that the Board of Trustees and the Planning and Zoning commission do not rezone The Chapel's property as commercial and instead ask that Verizon seeks the other commercial areas in Mundelein for construction of its latest cell tower.  

Please help our community retain its charm and most importantly, its property values!
