The Issue

I remember the day I received that notice, staring in disbelief at the email that felt like a gut punch. As a resident of Festival VMC, I, like many others, rely heavily on the convenience and necessity of underground parking. The sudden cancellation of our monthly parking subscriptions scheduled for November 22, 2026, has left me and countless residents scrambling for alternatives. But here's the problem: there are no viable alternatives (Yes, there is parking at the assembly park - but the spots there are also limited)

The decision by Festival VMC management and Precise ParkLink to prioritize incoming commercial retail spaces, such as GoodLife Fitness, over resident needs is not just inconvenient—it's downright unfair. We are one community spread across four densely populated residential buildings, yet our essential needs are being overlooked without dialogue or proper notice. The lack of consideration for the very people who call this area home and contribute significantly to its community is deeply troubling.

According to the City of Vaughan's latest urban planning reports, the resident population here has been steadily growing, yet there’s been no proportionate increase in infrastructure to support this growth, especially concerning parking facilities. This sudden shift in policy seems both hasty and inconsiderate of the realities faced by residents who juggle work, family, and other commitments that necessitate reliable parking solutions.

I call upon Festival VMC management and Precise ParkLink to immediately suspend this decision and open a channel for resident feedback and negotiation. Consider implementing a phased plan that allows sufficient time for relocation or alternatives that won't disrupt the lives of hundreds of residents. This could include constructing increased parking facilities or allocating parking time schedules that accommodate both retail and residential needs.

Let us stand together to ensure our voices are heard. By signing this petition, you contribute to a collective demand for fairness and thoughtful urban planning that considers all community members, not just commercial interests. Please lend your support to protect our right to convenient, accessible parking in our homes.
