Mayor Khan wishes to hear YOUR views about the stadium plans. Our plan is for as many supporters as possible to let him know how we feel - but politely. Below is a short message of objection, that we wish you to simply 'COPY and PASTE' and then EMAIL to Mayor Khan at: planningadmin@london.gov.uk " Dear Mr Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, As a supporter of Wimbledon Stadium, I write asking you to consider ALL elements of the current planning application for a football stadium for AFC Wimbledon, and would ask you please to continue to act as the planning authority. * The council agreed to have sporting diversification on the site, as part of the Local Development Framework. Indeed on BBC London News recently, when asked about this subject Cllr Alambritis confirmed that he had wanted multiple sports on the site. The current plans mean losing the two existing sports. * Freedom of Information requests from Merton Council and the GLA confirm that NO consultation was ever discussed with the current sporting tenant of Stock Car Racing. * The cost of abandoning oval racing and greyhound racing will be in jobs, the loss of a leisure facility, the closure of supporting engineering businesses, and a very sad testament for London without either a motor sport or greyhound stadium. * The proposals for housing at just 9% do not comply with the Council’s own stated plans of 40% for the site, never mind the pledge of 50% that Mayor Khan was recently elected upon. * The River Wandle, with its adjacent Electricity Substation, has flooded THREE times in the last 60 years. * Plough Lane itself has flooded THREE times in recent months, including INSIDE the stadium on 23rd June. If the site is to benefit from regeneration, any development of this site must be in line with current Sport England policy and include the existing two sports currently enjoyed at the venue in oval racing and greyhound racing. Please reject this planning committee and order a complete review. "
