The voice of ordinary folk no longer seems to count at City Hall.
Formerly as the mayoral candidate for the Labour Party, Sadiq Khan refused to meet with campaigners from SWSAG, even when out of urgency, we initiated a viral campaign on Facebook that fed in directly to Khan's page.
At the time, 'his people' declined he had ever received correspondence from either us, or our thousands of supporters, which was clear nonsense.
Faced with such an extremely weak argument, a member of the team accompanied a local resident, to a Labour Party meeting in February where Khan was to take questions from the floor.
When uncomfortable questions were asked, Merton Council Leader Alambritis moved to shut down the questions.
Ironically, the team behind Khan did have the nerve to approach a couple of our members to help get him elected ahead of Zak Goldsmith.
Now in the capital's hot seat, out of the blue, Khan has instructed counsel working for City Hall, to find him a way out of the decision made by former mayor Boris Johnson.
In short, Khan wants to approve the plans now, and send them back to Merton Council, where his friend Alambritis will oversee the process.
Khan and his Labour supporters want to see a quick conclusion to the process, but here and now, with the right support, we promise to keep the fight going. The alternative is the end of the stadium, and the end of racing in the capital.
Once before we were steam rollered, and it feels exactly the same this time. Together with Wandsworth Council, local residents, members of the greyhound world and local businesses, we will once again protest this ruling for as long as it takes.
