Hi All,

Following on from the email sent to you a couple of days ago, here are next 'steps' to take with regard to the Bull Hill Development and Red House Gardens.

A very important date for your diaries is the 12th of February 2025. This is the date of the Transform Leatherhead (TL) Forum. It will be at the Leatherhead Theatre from 7pm until 9pm. This is being advertised as an opportunity to find out the latest on the Bull Hill, Swan Centre and Claire House & James House projects. More details can be found here -         WHAT’S ON

It would be great to get as many people as we can to go to this event, so please speak to your neighbours, friends and work colleagues and encourage them to turn up. The event is being streamed live via that same link on the night, however, a large resident presence at this meeting would have a better impact. There is a poster available for you to share and distribute it as you deem fit. Email savebullhill@gmail.com to get a copy

The Leatherhead Residents Association (LRA) will also be running a meeting after the Forum. This will be to discuss what is found out and revealed at the TL Forum.  7.30pm - 9.30pm  on Monday the 17th of February at the Leatherhead Methodist Church, Church Road, Leatherhead KT22 8AY

Also just to say how important it is to join the LRA, they are the voice of residents at the council; they sit on planning committees, can help with nominating projects for funding from the council etc. The bigger the membership the greater and louder a voice Leatherhead will have. It is really important to have this, especially at the moment.
To become a member just follow this link - Membership Application – Leatherhead Residents' Association - It costs just £6.00 per household for 3 yrs - It's a no-brainer! Check out the rest of their website to get more information about the role they play within the community.

One last thing I wanted to share with you all is something that was said at a council meeting on the 4th of February, Tuesday night. It was a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-committee concerning the Joint Venture MVDC Kier Holdco 1 LLP Member Approval - Planning Strategy Business Plan and Annual Business Plan 2025/2026.
In particular something that was said at that meeting by Councillor Rosemary Hobbs. This is a transcript with a particular point highlighted...found this extremely annoying!

‘‘Bridget has made a lot of the points I was going to make, but housing is absolutely key here isn’t it and we’ve got to get younger people into the town and that means we need more affordable housing. I was disappointed that it was only viable with 20% so as you say we need to really work hard to try and attract more funding for affordable housing coming in but that’s what’s going to revitalise the town, having a more mixed demographic, and we have to acknowledge that people who are keenest to get involved in the consultation are probably also in the older demographic ‘cos they’ve got more time to do that and they’re less keen on the higher buildings, I mean I’m one of those people but I would like to see younger family’s able to move into the area and to provide umm, attract employers in ‘cos then we’d have a ready workforce, so I’m keeping my eye on the housing’’

Nice to see that us old'uns have so much more time to get involved - I must remind my family and boss that!!

And here is the link to the actual webcast, should you have the inclination to watch it -

You may need to copy and paste the link into your browser.

So in summary - See you all at the Forum on the 12th February and at the LRA meeting on the 17th plus if you haven't already, join the LRA

Kind regards
