STOP the building of Horse Creek Limestone Quarry!

STOP the building of Horse Creek Limestone Quarry!

The Issue

My grandfather, Jim Conkin, built a home in Sullivan Gardens in 1936 for his wife, Ophia. My mother, Judy Conkin Willis, and uncle, Jimmy Conkin, were raised in this home and and my brother currently lives here. That home is now threatened by a potential rock quarry being built by Vic Davis.

The construction and operation of this 41-acre quarry would not only disrupt the tranquility of our community but also pose significant environmental risks, including air and water pollution, noise disturbances, and harm to local wildlife. This quarry will cripple our environment and destroy our community.

The 90-acre tract, just south of the Eastman soccer fields and east of Sullivan Gardens Parkway is very close to our children Sullivan Gardens Elementary School. The surrounding area is primarily single family homes and small farms. Our families will be breathing this toxic dust.

The daily blasting and limestone crushing will impact home's foundation, property values, and result in 40 new heavy industrial quarry trucks on Sullivan Gardens Parkway.

Sullivan Gardens is a cherished part of Kingsport with historical significance and natural beauty that must be preserved for future generations. Allowing this quarry to proceed would set a dangerous precedent for other similar developments that could further erode the character of our beloved neighborhood.

We need your support to protect our homes, environment, and heritage from this unnecessary industrial project. Please sign this petition to stop Vic Davis from building the rock quarry in Sullivan Gardens!

Also, PLEASE attend the County Commissioner's vote on September 19th at 5:30pm at Kingsport City Hall. If this meeting happens, the next meeting will be October 10th at 6:00pm at the Blountville Courthouse.
