The citizens of the Ridgeview area of Newport Twp and local residents are highly concerned with health and safety issues concerning a natural gas processing plant on mine scarred areas. A large corporate multi million dollar tax break will be given to Nacero, a Texas based company, at our expense This same area was funded for local ATV park study to have a recreational area instead of a back door plan on a plant that will not benefit the taxpayers of Newport Twp or Luzerne County. The local residents believe this type of plant doesn’t belong near residential neighborhoods and should be reviewed by local residents and local leaders. Studies on health and safety must be done before any planning can occur. We believe in jobs and development, but we don't need something that will ruin our land, air, and water, the way coal mining companies did years ago. The scars are still here and we are still paying for them.
