The unique beauty of Swineley Bay is under immediate threat due to plans for 3 luxury houses at this beloved location. This area, cherished by residents of North Down and beyond, is at risk of being fundamentally altered unless we act now to prevent further progress on this misguided plan.

Swineley Bay is not only a place of outstanding natural beauty but also a sanctuary for local wildlife and a treasured destination for visitors.  The proposed luxury housing on top of the Swineley Bay will obliterate this beauty and significantly disrupt the wildlife habitats that depend on this unique environment.

This development has already involved the felling of a large number of mature trees and once the houses are built the landscape can never be recovered. Added to that will be the light pollution brought by the houses to the beach and woodland. The North Down Coastal Path where this beach sits is a site of various environmental designations and protections. 

When the planning application was published the site is described as Killaire Road. No one reading that would ever have realised this would impact Swineley Bay. Therefore the public has not been made fully aware of the extent and impact of this plan and would now like their say! 

We urge Ards and North Down Borough Council to reconsider and ultimately revoke the planning permission for building houses at the top of Swineley Bay. Before any irreversible damage is done, we believe the council should listen to the voices of residents who are calling for the preservation of this unique natural environment.
