The Issue

Every day, in the heart of Delhi, innocent street dogs are being beaten, poisoned, and snatched away from the only place they’ve ever called home.

These are not “strays” to be discarded. They are loyal companions to shopkeepers, guardians of lanes, tails that wag when children pass. They are part of our streets, our city, our lives.

But now, under the excuse of “control” and “cleanliness,” countless dogs — many already sterilised and vaccinated — are being illegally killed or forcefully relocated. This isn’t just wrong, it’s against the law. The Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2023 and orders from the Supreme Court clearly say: no dog can be killed or relocated unless rabid or dangerously aggressive — and only under strict supervision.

Yet, the killing continues. The cries are ignored. And with each act of cruelty, we fail them as humans.

We demand:

1. An immediate end to all killing and forced relocation of community dogs in Delhi.

2. Strict punishment for anyone — be it municipal staff or contractors — who violates these laws.

3. Mass sterilisation & vaccination drives, not slaughter.

4. Public awareness campaigns to teach coexistence, not cruelty.

We are not asking for charity for these dogs — we are demanding justice. They have the right to live safely on the streets they were born on. They are voiceless, but we are not.
