Stop the Boulder County Debris Removal Lawsuits

Stop the Boulder County Debris Removal Lawsuits
Why this petition matters
We, the owners and occupants of homes lost in the Marshall Fire, call upon the plaintiffs in the lawsuits challenging the award of the Boulder County debris removal contract to withdraw their lawsuits and allow Boulder County and us to proceed with rebuilding our lives.
You do not represent us, our interests, or our hopes for our future.
On December 30, 2021, our homes were destroyed in a raging wildfire. We have been dispersed from our houses and neighborhoods. We have lost everything: keepsakes and heirlooms, furniture and clothing, antiques and toilet paper and q-tips and aspirin. Many of us have insufficient insurance coverage, time, patience, and energy to rebuild.
We are managing grief and anger, stress, and fear, temporary housing and longer commutes, insurance claims and reconstruction or relocation. Simple tasks become complex because we have to repurchase the tools and supplies to complete them, whether making dinner, completing homework, dressing to go out, or hammering a nail. We are grateful to the businesses and community members who have compassionately opened their stores and hearts to help us refurnish our lives. You are not among them.
Our insurance policies limit the duration of temporary living expenses and pay the replacement costs for our homes and possessions only within a few years.
The clock is ticking, and you are wasting our time.
If you hope for our business, know that we will proceed with private debris removal. As your lawsuit continues, more of us will move forward without the public program or you. The business you hope to win will be gone by the time you prevail. Your legal costs will be unrecoverable.
DIGS (Demanding Integrity in Government Spending) you do not represent us. We are not the public you advocate for.
Drop your lawsuits. Let us get on with our lives. We’ve lost enough.
