STOP THE BLUM DATA CENTER

STOP THE BLUM DATA CENTER
The Issue
We chose to live in northern Hill County, where the landscape is our livelihood, the air is clean, and the sense of community is strong. But today, all that we hold dear is under threat. A tech giant plans to establish a sprawling data center right in the heart of our cherished land. Agriculture is deeply rooted in our community and our economy. The intrusion of vast data centers threatens the livelihood of farmers and ranchers. These facilities require a significant amount of land — land that is currently used for producing crops and supporting livestock. Once this land is developed for industrial use, the opportunity to use it for farming and ranching is forever lost.
Data centers are notorious for their heavy water consumption, posing a serious risk to our already limited water supply. These facilities operate 24/7, leading to skyrocketing energy bills and taxes for residents who simply cannot afford these rising costs. Additionally, the clear increase in traffic congestion not only disrupts our daily lives but also erodes the peace and quiet that defines our community. If you think the train delays are bad just wait until construction traffic begins!
The environmental impact is also alarming. Data centers emit both light and noise pollution, which can have detrimental effects on both wildlife and human health. There are various risk factors related to the electromagnetic fields generated by these centers, posing additional health threats. These factors need to be thoroughly studied BEFORE any more of these centers are built. These facilities often operate with minimal regard for the local ecosystem, threatening the delicate balance of nature we’ve worked hard to preserve.
Moreover, the construction and operation of data centers lower property values, stripping residents of the equity they have built over generations. Instead of fostering economic growth, this project threatens to devalue our assets and disrupt our rural heritage.
It's time to stand up for Hill County and its people. Let’s preserve the agricultural integrity of our land, ensure our natural resources are protected, and keep our community's well-being at the forefront. Help us halt the construction of this data center. Our fields, our water, our community cannot be compromised for the sake of corporate profit.
Help us preserve our way of life, safeguard our environment, and ensure the well-being of future generations. Sign the petition to let our county officials know that WE THE PEOPLE are against the construction of a data center near Blum.
