The Issue

The People of Delaware are facing an energy crisis of unprecedented proportions. We are witnessing our utility bills skyrocketing, and it's threatening our ability to provide for our families. It's time to take action against the predatory practices that are inflating our energy costs in favor of Big Tech corporations, who continue to report massive profits while our neighbors suffer.

The current energy pricing practices put undue pressure on regular families, pushing them to financial breaking points. Many are borrowing money just to keep essential services like electricity running. This is unjust. Delaware families are being forced to choose between necessities such as food and electricity, and this is simply unacceptable.

While tech giants expand their operations and increase their demand for energy with massive data centers, companies like PJM, Exelon, and Delmarva Power impose unreasonable and unjust, and imprudent rate increases on ordinary citizens. These rate hikes act like an invisible tax on our future generations, taxing not only our wallets but also our ability to thrive in today's economy.

We call upon the Delaware Public Service Commission and the Governor's Office to take immediate action. A specialized Public Service Commission docket should be established to investigate these "unjust and unreasonable" rate increases and establish a review and evaluation process for all data centers and large load entities of 20 MW or more to determine if there exist capacity and reliability snd to establish the rules for data centers to pay for all their generating capacity needs and escrow and pay in advance all auditable transmission infrastructure anf hardening needs, connections and battery or hydrogen fuel cell back up costs. The review and evaluation criteria to be explored and written include the prevention of degradation of water resources , prevention of environmental pollution such as banning tank fields of dieasil and gasoline as back up, human health such as Chronic exposure to high noise levels that result in reduced cognitive function, including lowered reading scores and diminished memory in children. The constant "mechanical howl" or "jet engine" sound causes sustained stress, resulting in higher levels of cortisol (the stress hormone), which can affect brain development and mental health, causing emotional disturbance and restlessness. Transparency and accountability are needed to ensure that energy pricing is fair and does not disproportionately impact everyday Delawareans but lowers rate payer bills.

By signing this petition, you're standing up for transparency, fairness, and justice in our energy grid. You're supporting Delaware families in their fight against the leveraging of energy as a means of control, and you're defending our future generations from burdensome and unfair financial practices.

Let's demand change now—sign this petition today and help stop the Big Tech "Energy Tax" on Delaware families.
