The Issue

Having spent most of my life in the serene neighborhood of Bethelboro, Uniontown, PA, I am deeply troubled by the plans to construct a solar farm close to our homes. The idea of replacing our peaceful environment with the incessant humming noises and other disturbances of a solar farm is distressing.

Solar farms, though beneficial in certain aspects, pose several risks when situated near residential areas. One of the primary concerns is the significant heat they can generate. Solar panels absorb sunlight and convert it into energy, which in turn elevates the temperature in surrounding areas. This can create heat islands, adversely affecting local weather patterns and making our neighborhood less comfortable, especially during the hot summer months.

There's also the alarming risk of fires associated with solar farms. The PV systems operate at high voltages, which can overheat and potentially catch fire, posing a direct threat to nearby homes and forests. Not to mention, these farms can drastically lower property values. Potential buyers are often deterred by the presence of large-scale solar projects due to aesthetic concerns and the very real issues mentioned above.

Moreover, the company spearheading this project, Energix, has a track record worth scrutinizing. Reports indicate that Energix has faced environmental fines in the past, raising questions about their commitment to ecological safety and responsible practice.

While we support renewable energy, the location of such projects must be carefully considered to ensure they do not negatively impact local communities. Our neighborhood deserves to remain the peaceful haven it has been for decades. Please support us in asking local authorities to reconsider this project placement. Your signature could make a significant difference in preserving the tranquility and safety of our beloved Bethelboro community.
