My family's life is at risk with the proposed development of lithium battery storage facilities near our home. Our beloved Mountain Home, Texas, is under threat by the 7750 East-West esVolta Energy Project planned for the junction of 479 and I10. Though the land has been purchased, construction has yet to begin, and therein lies our opportunity to protect what's dear to us.

Our homes and children are set to be the collateral damage of this project. The stability of the facilities being proposed is highly unpredictable, and the potential hazards are horrific. The safety of 25,000 motorists who pass this location daily, the integrity of our water supply, and the sanctity of our ecosystem hang in the balance. Once irreparable damage is done, there's no turning back.

Lithium battery storage facilities, while beneficial to renewable energy efforts, have notable risks, including thermal runaway and fire hazards, which are exacerbated in residential locations. The proposed site lies near family homes and bustling highways, which amplifies the peril of any mishap. For example, experts have raised concerns about the safety of such facilities due to incidents reported globally, including fires at similar sites.

We propose that the energy company should seek alternatives that prioritize the communities’ safety and environmental health, such as exploring less populated areas, investing in advanced safety technologies, or even developing facilities that use safer, emerging energy storage technologies. Such measures would reflect a commitment to sustainable progress without compromising our well-being.

It's crucial for lawmakers, environmental agencies, and local stakeholders to hear our voices. The wellbeing of our families and the preservation of our cherished community must take precedence over industrial developments. Mountain Home is our haven, and it's time to protect it.
