The Issue

WE ARE THEIR VOICE

PROTECT THE BEARS OF NEW JERSEY

When we are greeted by the beautiful sight of wildlife in New Jersey, I am reminded that we share this land with other living beings.

New Jersey has long been home to an incredible variety of wildlife. Our forests and natural spaces provide homes for animals who have lived on this land for generations. Among them are our beautiful black bears.

I am starting this petition to be a voice for the beautiful bears who call New Jersey their home.

We Are Their Voice

Inspired by Gandhi’s call for peaceful action, we are reminded that compassion knows no boundaries. We may look different on the outside, wearing different suits, but within us is the same light.

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves in particular towns, communities, and moments for a reason: to lead, to speak, and to stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
This is not about judging hunters or creating division. There is no judgment here. It is about choosing compassion, opening our hearts, and asking an important question:

Can we find another way?
The bears cannot attend our meetings. They cannot vote. They cannot sign a petition. But we can.
We have been placed exactly where we are to become a voice for the animals who share the same land.
And you can be that voice.
There Is Another Way to Coexist

Wildlife management is a complex issue, and community safety matters. However, before lethal measures are taken, we should carefully explore humane, evidence-based alternatives that may help reduce conflicts between people and wildlife.

Potential approaches include:

Education and awareness: Helping residents understand how to coexist safey with bears, secure garbage and other food sources, and avoid attracting wildlife to residential areas.
Habitat and population monitoring: Using reliable data to understand bear populations and identify the causes of human-wildlife conflicts.
Targeted conflict prevention: Working with wildlife experts to develop practical, humane strategies that protect both residents and animals.
Different methods have different limitations, costs, and levels of effectiveness.
We have an opportunity to approach this challenge with intelligence, responsibility, and compassion.
A Matter of Compassion and Responsibility
Bears are living creatures that play a role in our natural environment. Their presence reminds us that we share this world with other beings, each with a place in the greater web of life.
Wildlife management decisions deserve careful consideration of animal welfare, ecological impact, public safety, and the long-term well-being of our communities.
We can respect the concerns of our neighbors while still asking our authorities to consider alternatives to killing.

Let NEW JERSEY be a state that takes the time to listen, learn, and explore solutions that reflect both compassion and sound science.
Please Stand With Us
If you are a New Jersey resident, I invite you to sign this petition and share it with other New Jersey residents.
We are asking the appropriate New Jersey authorities to give serious consideration to humane, science-informed wildlife management alternatives.
If you’ve read this far, thank you for caring.
Your one signature and one share can help bring attention to this important issue.
Together, we can stand for compassion. Together, we can speak for those who have no voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
WE ARE THEIR VOICE.

For the bears. For their cubs. For the wildlife that calls New Jersey home.
With compassion and gratitude,
A Voice for Our Wildlife

We need to protect and preserve natural habitats rather than continually removing them for development. Everyone benefits when we protect the land that wildlife and people share.
