News that Parks Victoria are poised to trap and/or shoot 65 Bogong High Plains Brumbies, the last wild-living descendants of war horses, is causing immeasurable distress to Brumby Advocates, Lighthorsemen, Historians and the general public.
BRUMBIES NEED YOUR VOICE NOW MORE THAN EVER!
Parks Victoria have stated, Brumbies will be shot from helicopters, which is both cruel and inhumane. This is not management, it is slaughter.
During WW1 and the Boer War 130,000 Brumbies were trapped and shipped overseas to support Australia's war effort. Only one brave horse, Sandy returned to Australia. Countless bronze statues have been funded and erected across Australia to honour our soldiers and war horses.
During the Beersheba attack 41 soldiers perished and over 70 Brumbies died on the battlefield.
The Bogong High Plains Brumbies are the last living connection to these brave war horses, and to destroy what many are now describing as "living cultural Heritage" must not be allowed to proceed.
Despite Petitions with over 250,000 signatures delivered to Lily D'Ambrosio she has so far ignored every plea for compassion. The Bogong Brumbies do not cause damage to the environment where they live, in vast areas of 77,000 hectares for over 2 centuries. The claim is simply ludicrous and exaggerated.
Brumby Advocates are calling for sensible Legislation for all Victorian Brumbies and a Bill has been drafted and is in the hands of Minister D'Ambrosio.
If you live in Victoria, Please sign the ePetition which is now circulating and will be tabled in the Upper House of Victorian Parliament after 24 May 2022 by Ms Bev McArthur MP.
Alternatively, please sign the Campaign Letter calling for an end to the barbaric and cruel aerial shooting of Brumbies and the introduction of Legislation where it does not exist. This is a National Campaign and calls for parks managers to comply with Model Codes of Practice and to end shooting of Brumbies. Presently, trapping in foaling season is taking place which is contrary to Model Codes of Practice.

Alternatively please call Lily D'Ambrosio at 03 9637 9504 to voice your opposition to the slaughter of the surviving bloodline descendants of our war horses and our Heritage Victorian Brumbies in Barmah and the Eastern Alps of Victoria. Do not be fobbed off to Parks Victoria, This is a Ministerial matter and falls within Minister D'Ambrosio's portfolio, it is she who makes these outrageous decisions. Speak to her or leave a message with one of her staff members, but make your voice heard for our Brumbies.
